July 20-24, 2020
9AM – 3PM
URI Narragansett Bay Campus

The University of Rhode Island’s (URI) College of Ocean
Engineering, in partnership with the URI Inner Space Center (ISC), is offering
Ocean Exploration: Naval Science and Technology Camp to current high school students.  This week-long day camp will focus on exploring the ocean using marine technologies.  Campers will build and test a variety of oceanographic tools and instruments, such as remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) and ocean sensors, and engage with scientists who are involved in active missions to explore the otherwise “unknown ocean.”

With funding from the U.S. Office of Naval Research STEM program, the ISC is able to offer a discounted cost of $200/camper for this week-long camp.  All applications will be reviewed and acceptance will be based on merit and teacher recommendations. Enrollment will be capped at 20 campers. Please note, only current high school students enrolled through the 2020/2021 school year will be considered.

In response to virtual learning shifts associated with the COVID-19 developments, the application deadline has been extended to May 1, 2020.   Notification of acceptance will be made by May 15, 2020.

Please contact Holly Morin (holly_morin@uri.edu) with any questions about this camp.
