Hurricanes threaten millions of people along the United States East and Gulf Coasts from Maine to Texas. This program introduces participants to the meteorological and oceanographic processes that drive hurricanes as well as current scientific and technological advances in hurricane forecasting. Using examples from historical hurricanes that have made U.S. landfall, participants will investigate the hazards to people and property, how to follow a hurricane forecast, and how to be best prepared prior to and during a hurricane emergency.
